Medtronic (Minneapolis) last month recalled some of its disposable heart surgery products because of concerns about a coating of contaminated heparin. Included in the recall were disposable products with the Carmeda BioActive surface that are used during cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) for heart surgeries.
